First of all, I’d like to emphasize that health and education are the key pillars of strength, power, development and prosperity of nations. Accordingly, the revolutionary leadership issued the decree No. (161)- 2016, concerning the establishment of 21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences. It is the first medical university in Yemen. It is also the most important institution that provides services in the field of education and health.

Since the first day of assuming reponsibilities of all academic, administrative and financial matters, the leadership of the university has sought to create an institutional system based on economic efficiency through relying on Allah and the own resources of the university as well as the great efforts of the loyal people to their homeland.

During the past years,the leadership of the university could achieve the followings:

  • Designating the academic staff according to the academic standards.
  • Activating the clinical department through carrying out the clinical training that represented the biggest challenge to the university due to the huge number of students.
  • Adopting the application of principles and methods of total quality at the university through activating the center of development and quality assurance. In addition, making up and carrying out the strategic plan with the aim of having the university obtain the academic and program accreditation by 2023.
  • Enhancing the principles of transparency, accountability and governance through making, approving and carrying out a number of regulations related to organizational, academic and student affairs, postgraduate studies, clinical training ….etc.
  • Holding a number of workshops on training academic staff.
  • Preparing and publicizing the orientations and strategic plan of the university in accordance with the standards of quality and academic accreditation.
  • Reviewing and updating the specifications of academic programs and studying courses in accordance with the modern strategic orientations of the university, and coping with the standards of academic accreditation council and WFME.
  • Using the computerized system in the academic and adnministrative activities, student services, activating the systems of SAR, excellence, finance, electronic correction, and fingerprint biometric system.
  • Communicating with the ministries of civil service and finance to recruit the staff of the university.
  • Opening new postgraduate programs in different specializations at the university.
  • Setting up the faculty of medical technology, opening new academic specializations and programs, and linking network with the post.
  • Preparing an expanded strategic plan through which the university seeks to set up the first medical city that meets the needs of urgent national development in the fields of edcation and health as well as the active participation in implementing the national vision and building up the modern Yemeni state.

By the grace of Allah, the virtue and support of the revolutionary and political leadership, and the national savlation government, the great achievements have been made. On behalf of the staff of the university, I would like to thank them for their continuous support at all levels.

Finally, I’d like to thank the academic and administrative staff who contributed significantly to set up this scientific and lofty edifice. I would like also to thank all students and Yemeni people who have trusted the university and have chosen it for their sons and daughters as the future gate for achieving their desired goals.
