A public scientific defense session was held today in Sana’a for the Master’s thesis in Respiratory Care submitted by researcher Saleem Nasser Ali Hamilah, entitled: “Exploring Sleep Quality Among Critical Care Professionals in Sana’a City, Yemen- 2024.”

The thesis was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Faker Al-Qubati, MD Consultant Pulmonologist and Main Supervisor, and Dr. Fares Mahdi, PhD Consultant in Community Health and Co-Supervisor.

The examination and judgment committee consisted of:

🔸️Prof. Faker Al-Qubati, Main Supervisor and Committee Member from Sana’a University;
🔸️Prof. Nouradden Al-Jaber, MD- External Examiner and Committee Member from Sana’a University;

🔸️Prof. Abdul Salam Dallaq, PhD, Chair of the Examination Committee and Internal Examiner from 21 September University of Medical and Applied Sciences.

At the beginning of the session, the researcher presented the stages of his study, highlighting its significance, methodology, and key findings. He noted that the study is considered one of the first of its kind in Yemen to explore sleep quality among critical care practitioners. The presentation also addressed the study’s distinguished results and their relevance to the health, well-being, and professional performance of healthcare providers working in critical care settings.

Following the presentation, an extensive scientific discussion took place between the examination committee and the researcher. Mr. Hamilah successfully defended his thesis, provided scientific evidence, and responded to the committee’s questions and comments.

At the conclusion of the session, the committee held a closed deliberation to approve the final result. The committee decided to award Saleem Nasser Ali Hamilah the Master’s degree in Respiratory Care with a score of 88% and an overall grade of Very Good, subject to the implementation of the committee’s recommendations.

It is worth noting that Mr. Hamilah had completed the academic coursework of the Master’s program ranked first in his class, with a score of 93.60%, achieving an Excellent grade with honors.

The defense session was attended by a large number of researchers, students, consultants, specialists from various medical and respiratory care fields, as well as the researcher’s friends and relatives.
