Sana’a – More than 3700 applicants of diploma degree holders did the first medical licensing exam in 2023, given by Supreme Medical Council, conducted at 21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences.
His Excellency the rector of the university- head of Supreme Medical Council Professor Mojahed Ali Measar stated that 3726 applicants of diploma degree holders did the first licensing exam ,in 2023, for getting the medical licence granted by Supreme medical council.
Professor Measar classified the applicants as follows:
1093 paramedics, 619 pharmacists, 576 nurses, 67 dentistry technicians, 521 lab technicians, 67 anaesthetics technicians, 20 opticians, 40 radiology technicians , 571 midwives, 14 physiotherapists, 11 respiratory care technicians, 87 scrub nurses and 38 emergencies technicians.
His Excellency Professor Measar affirmed that, for the first time, the exam included the applicants of new specializations, and that reflected the interest of the council in excluding the unskilled labour from practising medicine in a way that puts an end to medical errors.
Professor Measar pointed out that the exam was taken in two days due to the huge number of applicants. So the first day was limited to applicants of BA degree holders whereas the second one was limited to those who have diplomas.
The event was attended by vice-rector for graduate studies Professor Salim Al-Reyashi, vice rector for student affairs Professor Khaled Al-Moayyed, assistant to vice-rector for academic affairs Professor Jamil Ahsen Mujalli, assistant to vice-rector for student affairs Professor Mohammed Al-Droubi, secretary-general of the university Mr. Abdulqaher Al-Asli, assistant secretary-general Mr. Rifaqi Al-Aqbari, assistant secretary-general of the council Dr. Fadia Al-Dailmi and a number of deans of faculties.
