Sana’a – Out of 6200, 2,314 BA applicants took today the fourth medical licensing exam in 2023, supervised by Supreme Medical Council at the September 21 University of Applied and Medical Sciences. Regarding diploma holders, they will take the exam tomorrow.
The exam was conducted during two periods for applicants who hold bachelor’s degrees in various medical specialties to obtain licenses to practice the profession.
During his visit to the exam halls along with vice-rector for student affairs, Professor Khaled Abdul-Karim Al-Moyyad, the secretary general of the Medical Council, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hammadi, and a number of officials in the Council, His Excellency the rector of the University, head of the Supreme Medical Council Professor Mojahed Ali Measar, confirmed today that the BA applicants were distributed as follow: 325 applicants in general medicine, 664 in pharmacy, 255 in nursing, 478 in dentistry, 366 in laboratories, 37 in clinical pharmacy, 36 in anesthesia, 45 in radiology, 56 in midwifery, and 52 in therapeutic nutrition.
Professor Measar stressed that obtaining licenses to practice the medical profession is a necessary measure to ensure that no errors or shortcomings occur in the outputs of universities and medical institutes.
His Excellency Professor Measar considered obtaining a license to practice the profession is a clear evidence of the success and ability of medical personnel to practice the profession efficiently and competently, and at the same time it represents a necessary procedure because it is directly related to human life.
He added that the Supreme Medical Council is the official body authorized to grant licenses to practice the profession to medical staff.
