Sana’a – His Excellency the rector of the university, head of the supreme medical council, Prof. Mojahed Ali Measar, discussed with His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, the mechanism of clinical training for medical specialties and the licenses granted for the opening of medicine faculties in private universities, in addition to the progress mechanism of international WFME recognition of Yemen.
The meeting touched on the requirements and standards for opening the medical faculties, which necessitate providing a special hospital for the university with a bed capacity of 200 beds at least.
The meeting reached a number of decisions and recommendations, including the formation of a specialized committee by the supreme medical council and representatives of the academic accreditation council to re-evaluate all faculties of medicine in private universities for which licenses were issued this year, and to approve what will be submitted by the competent committee regarding those faculties.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Abdel-Karim Thamer – member of the supreme medical council, head of the Yemeni doctors syndicate, Prof. Khaled Swailem, member of the medical council and Prof. Abdel-Salam Al-Aqel – advisor to the head of the medical council for scientific and academic affairs, as well as Dr. Salim Hamileh – director general of planning and international cooperation at the supreme medical council.
