Program Overview
The Master degree in Respiratory Care is awarded by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Studies at University of 21 September for Applied & Medical Sciences. It is is an academic program 2 years duration (4 semesters) and followed by thesis and requires a minimum of 80 semester hours of credit for graduation. This is an integrated program, requiring:
The preprofessional phase (1st semester) & The professional phase includes over 765 hours of clinical practice distributed in 3 consecutive semesters.
It involves both theoretical courses and practical training in the second semester to the last semester in the 2nd year at teaching hospitals in Capital Sana’a of Yemen. The program emphasizes developing students’ clinical skills and improves their role in caring of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. It is offered for experienced Respiratory Care Practitioners who hold the bachelor degree in Nursing or Anesthesia for the first batch of Master degree and for the next batches they should have bachelor degree in respiratory care. The graduate students from this program they should complete 80 credits hours
Program Objectives
- Competently give clinical service of the respiratory and related component of the emergency care, intensive care, general wards, and specialized clinics.
- Establish and run the respiratory units of hospitals.
- Take part in the administration and organization of respiratory care
- Participate actively in the management of a multidisciplinary team approach
- Promote and maintain optimum standards of allied healthcare and practice in the respiratory environment with respecting patient value, culture, belief and dignity
- Promote safe and healthy environments for patients and staff
- Conduct researches on respiratory care for the provision of evidence based clinical care
- Participate in educational process for the personal and professional development Manipulate skillfully and maintain instruments and devices used in respiratory therapy and care.
- Improve the research skills and productivity relevant to respiratory care practice.

Upon successful completion of an undergraduate this program, graduates will be able to

Study system
The program is at least two years full time program that includes advanced theoretical and clinical training courses.
The total number of credit hours to obtain a MsRC degree is 80 credit hours, including courses and thesis.
