Sana’a – More than 3,700 applicants holding medical diplomas took the fourth medical licensing exams in Sanaa during Wednesday and Thursday to obtain licenses to practice the profession of medicine.The exam was organized by the Supreme Medical Council at 21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences.

Following the exams which were attended by the vice-rector for student affairs, Professor Khaled Abdul-Karim Al-Moyad and his assistant Professor Mohammed Al-Droubi, His Excellency the rector of the university- head of the Supreme Medical Council Professor Mojahed Ali Measar stated that today’s exam was done by  applicants who hold diplomas in various medical specialties, and  yesterday’s exam was allocated to applicants who hold bachelor’s degrees.

His Excellency the rector of the university – head of the Supreme Medical Council clarified that the number of applicants who took today’s exams was 3,726  distributed in 11 medical specialties from various parts of Yemen Republic, indicating that the number of applicants in those specializations was as follows:  584 pharmacists, 695 midwives, 968 physician assistants, 481 lab technicians, 109 operation technicians, 41 respiratory care technicians, 33 radiology technicians, 63 applicants holding an emergency technician diploma, 61 anesthetists, 42 dental assistants, and 655 nurses.

Professor  Mojahed Measar pointed out that medical licensing exams are going well in an organized way to ensure the efficiency of medical outcomes in various specialties, adding that the exam in the capital, Sanaa, coincides with doing another medical licensing exam in Ibb Governorate for more than 1,100 applicants.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Medical Council, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Hammadi, confirmed that the medical licensing exams highlighted the notable objectives of the outputs in improving the performance of staff working in medical facilities, and reducing medical errors, or deficiencies in the outputs of universities and medical institutes. The exams were attended by a number of faculties deans and their deputies, Assistant secretary-general Mr. Rifaqi Al-Aqbari and a number of officials at the university and the Medical Council.
