Sana’a – Under the auspices of His Excellency the rector of the university, Prof. Mojahed Measar, 21 September University for Medical and Applied Sciences organized poetic festival in commemoration of Eid al-Ghadir – that marks the anniversary of the day when Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) named his cousin and son-in-law, Ali ibn Abi Talib, as his successor and the head of the Muslim community.An elite group of poets recited poems about Imam Ali’s life and his prominent roles with prophet Mohammed (PBUH). They presented excerpts of poems, praising his virtues, meekness, insight, ascetic life, piety, and sophisticated style to instil the justice into the hearts of generations. They also indicated the political,cultural, intellectual and religious significance of Al-wilayah anniversary and the extent of their love for the Greatest Prophet and his family as well as the lessons learned from that event.His Excellency the rector of the university and undersecretary of the ministry of guidance delivered speech, appreciating the poems about pledging allegiance to Imam Ali as divinely appointed Imam. They also stressed the importance of this occasion as it gains momentum reflecting its great effects on those who owe allegiance to divinely appointed leaders.For his part, the vice rector for academic affairs, Mutaia Abu-oraij welcomed the attendees and he indicated that the anniversary day of Al-wilaya is a revival of voice of the right and obeying the orders of the Great Prophet of renewal the oath of allegiance.The festival was attended by vice rector for academic affairs, Prof. Mutaia Abu-Oraij, assistants to vice rectors, deans of faculties, assistant secretary general, directors general, academic and administrative staff and students of the university.
